Friday Five –Sunday Addition #AwareWithPink
The change of the seasons has hit me hard. Between the almost constant rain and fighting off a cold, my fitness (and overall) motivation has hit an all time low. This past week, my focus was on doing things to simultaneously rest and relax, but also taking little steps to amp up my motivation. Here are 5 things that kept me motivated last week, and are making me look forward to Monday and the week ahead!
Sweet Tunes: Running while it’s raining is not ideal – but while living in Portland, if I stop running during the rainy season that means I wouldn’t run 9 months of the year! Over the last couple of weeks, I have been scheduling runs at lunchtime with friends. When friends can’t make it, I’m staying motivated by running with my Treks Titanium Pink from Aftershokz and listening to some sweet beats. My favorite run tunes right now? Kanye West’s “Life of Pablo” album, Sia’s “This is Acting” Album, and for the cool downs, Solange’s “A Seat at The Table” album.
Breast Cancer Awareness: When I was 18, I lost my grandma to Breast Cancer. During Breast Cancer Awareness month I always try to do something to give back to the community and honor her memory. I honestly haven’t decided what that is yet, but it has been on the forefront of my mind over the last week.
I think it is very cool that this month through October 31st, 2016 for every unit of Trekz Titanium Pink headphones sold on aftershokz.com, AfterShokz will donate 25% of proceeds to Bright Pink, a non-profit that focuses on breast and ovarian cancer awareness and action.
Treating Myself: Self care has been the name of the game this past week. In addition to staying motivated in the fitness department, I’ve also been trying to keep myself healthy. I have been focusing on getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, eating my veggies, and doing the yogas with my Flex and Flow fam.
New Frames! Guys, I’m old, I need glasses. It was time to update my frames, and I’m loving my new Marc by Marc Jacobs frames. They make GSDing so much more fun. Not only can I SEE, but I feel pretty cute doing it!
Friends who Motivate: This week, my friend Bess has totally inspired me! She came, saw, and conquered a tough outdoor bootcamp on a not so amazing Portland weather day. The rain broke, we had the whole waterfront to ourselves, and we cranked out an awesome workout together!! Get it girl!
Puppies: Because, puppies. Ok, technically this is six things, but I couldn’t do a post on keeping motivated through the fall and winter months without including Grimm. Waking up during these dark mornings has been so much easier knowing that I get to spend time with this little (big) monkey!
Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by Aftershokz in an effort to spread awareness about their new Pink Treks headphones, in partnership with Bright Pink to support and spread awareness around breast cancer awareness. All opinions and words are my own. I truly appreciate all the brands that support the Sweat Pink community.
