Running with Team Luna Chix
I love running. I love being able to run out frustrations or extra energy at the end of a long day. I like how a nice long run always helps me find my center. I love the endorphin rush I get after running any distance. I love the way it clears my mind and tightens my body. But, despite all of the things I like and love about it, running and I have had an up and down relationship ever since we met when I was in junior high. For some reason, I go through certain seasons of my life where running just isn’t that appealing to me anymore. Then, without fail, after a year or so I re-discover it again and remember all the reasons why I love running. Every time I come back to it, its like catching up with an old friend: some things never change, but as time goes by some things will never be exactly the same.
One of the things that I have realized while running in this season of my life is the importance of community. For me, having a group of friends who keep me motivated is key. That is why I am so excited to be running with Team Luna Chix Portland Run Team. The Team Luna Chix Portland Run Team seeks “to invite, inspire & encourage women to get outside and play, while raising money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Fund.” Over the last month or so I have really enjoyed meeting this team of inspiring ladies, and I’m having a great time getting to know them and other members of the Portland running community during our weekly work outs.
